COVID-19 Announcement for Most Precious Blood/Queen of Heaven, Hazleton

September 23, 2021

The health and safety of all children who attend religious education at our parishes is of critical importance to us.

Our parishes were notified on Thursday, September 23, 2021, that a student who was present at religious education class on Sunday, September 19, has tested positive for COVID-19. There have been no close contacts identified at this time. We are notifying all families involved in our religious education program in order to fully inform and protect our community.

In accordance with established protocols from the Diocese of Scranton as well as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, all children in our religious education program must wear masks while indoors to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Furthermore, all students are spaced at least three feet apart during religious education classes. Proper hand hygiene and cleaning procedures have also been established and are followed.

Everyone in our community is encouraged to know and keep alert for any potential symptoms of COVID-19, which may include (but are not limited to) fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle pain, headache or a loss of taste and smell. If anyone develops any of those symptoms, they should contact their healthcare provider.

Our parish community wishes to extend prayers for healing and comfort to the individual who is experiencing illness and for all those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Rev. Anthony J. Generose

Pastor
